Potato Scones

  • 400 g potatoes peeled
  • 40 g Butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100 g flour


  • Cook the potatoes for about 20 mins, then drain.
  • Mash the potatoes with butter and salt. Let them cool completely.
  • Add the flour to form a dough.
  • Cut the dough into about 8 equal pieces and roll out on a floured surface. The scones should be less than 1 cm thick.
  • Heat a skillet and bake the scones on each side for about 3-5 minutes.


* Traditionally the potato scones are fried in bacon fat, so you could also lightly grease your skillet before baking the scones. I prefer them less greasy. Either way works just fine, so it is up to you how to prepare your potato scones!
* Potato scones freeze well! Freeze them in a single layer (to avoid them sticking together) before or after baking them. Cook the scones from frozen, adding a little more time for them to cook through.
